Dat het om meer ging dan een louter PR-stunt, wordt al snel duidelijk als we het afgelegde traject overlopen met Ulrike. Al vergde het soms een flinke dosis psychologie en diplomatie om tot dat resultaat te komen, legt ze uit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph--justify  mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph--6b014d82d05da44862ebbd021a150103\">&#8220;We geven de pati\u00ebnten en hun familie een stem in het ziekenhuisbeleid.&#8221; Dat was de stelling van CEO dr. Yves Breysem toen hij de functie in het leven riep. Ulrike liet toen weten: &#8220;Pati\u00ebnten moeten vol vertrouwen ons ziekenhuis binnenstappen en bij hun thuiskomst in staat zijn om hun leven op een zo kwalitatief mogelijke manier verder te zetten.&#8221; De uitdaging zag ze in de vertaling van de positie van de pati\u00ebnt naar een concreet actieplan.&nbsp;&#8220;Zo maken we het verschil in de beleving van een ziekenhuiscontext.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/li>\n\n\t<\/ul>\n<\/nav>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"   mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph--a74a14fa3c4e8641767eeeeab8dffafa\">Pypops weet waarover ze praat want ze was voordien o.a. adjunct-directeur bij de Belgische MUCO-vereniging.&nbsp;&#8220;Ik beschik nu over een ruim takenpakket, gebaseerd op pati\u00ebntervaringen voor zowel de voorbereiding op het ziekenhuisverblijf, het verblijf zelf als de opvolging nadien. Het gaat erom om te komen tot een zorgcontinu\u00fcm.&#8221;<br>&#8220;Het verschil zit hem sindsdien in de invalshoek. Voordien bekeken we de pati\u00ebnt als partner van het ziekenhuis, nu is Jessa de partner van de pati\u00ebnt.&#8221; Een totaal ander uitgangspunt dus. Het pati\u00ebntenstandpunt wordt breder meegenomen via panelwerking. Een voorbeeld?&nbsp;&#8220;We schaafden de anamnese van 75-plussers bij en deden dat samen met de doelgroep en de mantelzorgers. Vroeger heette het doel dat de pati\u00ebnt op het einde van zijn verblijf een minimumaantal meters moest kunnen wandelen. Nu dat die pati\u00ebnt in staat moet zijn om zijn kleinkind op school af te halen.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"   mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph--7c0b6eec0ca8898d6f54adfa0deb62e9\">&#8220;Idem dito voor slik- en kauwproblemen waar we praktische tips formuleren voor de thuissituatie, niet alleen op basis van wat de pati\u00ebnt nog kan eten, maar zeker ook van wat hij nog&nbsp;<em>wil eten<\/em>.&#8221; <br>Het panel bestaat uit een mix van zorgverleners en pati\u00ebnten die evenwaardig veel zeggenschap hebben. Neem nu geriatrie. Vandaag overstijgt de aanpak bijvoorbeeld zes afzonderlijke geriatrie-afdelingen om zo tot een ziekenhuisbreed beleid te komen. Daarbij verliest Ulrike de betekenisvolle naasten van de pati\u00ebnt niet uit het oog. Resultaat: 1 pati\u00ebntenbrochure en een flyer voor betekenisvolle naasten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"   mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph mhh-mcn-v1-paragraph--8c83847d505cdc0f78d653ee5366e8aa\">Tijdens covid was en is de organisatie van een geriatriepanel niet evident. De leden hadden ondersteuning nodig om vanop afstand te vergaderen, maar het lukte, weet Ulrike.&nbsp;&#8220;Op drie diensten worden binnenkort ervaringsdeskundigen als vrijwilligers ingezet. Iemand die gepokt en gemazeld is door de problematiek, beschikt over collectieve ervaringskennis \u00e9n professionele vaardigheden en een extra steun en een brug naar de zorgverleners betekent&#8221;, legt Pypops uit. Zelf kan ze bogen op een lange ervaring als pati\u00ebntenvertegenwoordiger:&nbsp;&#8220;In deze functie ben ik gegroeid en geleidelijk krijgt de job meer gewicht. Mijn mening geef ik steeds onderbouwd met goede dossierkennis. Ik ben evenwel geen solospeler of Don Quichot en ik kan rekenen op steun van het management. Dat er al eens weerstand is tegen bepaalde voorstellen, is logisch. Daarmee moet je genuanceerd omgaan.
